Hyemin Gu
Hyemin Gu is a landscape designer and landscape gardener from Seoul, South Korea. She is a Master of Landscape Architecture candidate at Harvard Graduate School of Design. As a landscape designer, she has been awarded for her submissions to many competitions including the 2020 Young Architects Competition, Taksim Urban Design Competition, 2018 Seoul Show Garden, and 2021 Maehyang-ri Show Garden. Throughout the course of her practice, she developed hands-on experience by building several gardens and sought to maintain a strong connection with plants as design materials. She gave much thought to the garden’s construction and the selection of materials that would both conform to a given concept and ensure feasibility from design to construction. In the future, she hopes to design spaces and artworks that integrate the positive attributes of plants with technology; that is plants can be used as inspiration for art or as a design material, with technology supporting its sustainability.
